Our History
The Fundación Construimos was born out of Juan Carlos Mosquera’s dream to build and facilitate access to quality housing for less fortunate Colombians, especially construction workers who generally do not own homes and lack regular employment. Established in 2004 with the support of the business group Consucasa—a solid construction company with over 40 years of experience that, along with its subsidiaries, has built numerous housing projects in Bogotá in socioeconomic strata 5 and 6—Consucasa has become the main ally of Fundación Construimos throughout its history.
Since 2010, Fundación Construimos has aligned its mission with that of Father José Arcesio Escobar, who, through the Asociación Carmelitas de San José, promotes the Ciudad de Dios initiative to foster sustainable development in vulnerable communities. Since then, both missions have been integrated, expanding Fundación Construimos’ coverage to provide comprehensive support to the country’s most needy communities.

Juan Carlos Mosquera Sierra (1979-2022)
These lines are dedicated to the life, work, and legacy of JUAN CARLOS MOSQUERA SIERRA; an entrepreneurial and altruistic man who dedicated his life to helping and serving those in need. He was born in Bogotá on September 16, 1979. Through his father, a Business Administrator and founder of the CONSUCASA business group, Juan Carlos learned the value of disciplined work, the importance of setting clear goals, and the secret of teamwork to achieve those goals, understanding that “we are blessed to bless.”
He attended Gimnasio Moderno for his primary and secondary education, where he had the opportunity to travel to various regions of the country, witnessing firsthand the poverty experienced by many people in Colombia. He realized how different his own reality was and began to be concerned about finding ways to intervene, from his privileged position, to contribute to improving the quality of life for less fortunate individuals.
